Are you looking for a new curio cabinet to go in your living room or family room? There are so many to choose from and picking the perfect cabinet does not have to be a chore. It should be a fun experience. There are a few things to think about before making that purchase.

What are you going to display?

Everyone has family pictures that they would love to display and putting them in a keepsake cabinet is a great way to grab someones attention. Perhaps you have some trophies that you want to show off or just a collection of knick knacks. It could be a combination of all of these items.

Once you know what you want to display, then the fun parts begins. Time to choose the perfect cabinet. I prefer glass curio cabinets over a solid wood construction and here’s why.

A solid wood cabinet is nice and it has it’s proper place but the whole point of a cabinet is to display something that you think is important and how can anyone see your items when they are blocked from view? A glass curio cabinet allows you and your guests to view your precious china or family pictures from any angle in the room. You do want to create a focal point for these items and obscuring them with wood does not do the job. Another reason I prefer glass curio cabinets is some of them have mirrored backs.
