Shelving And Cabinets
A garage is not only a place where you house your vehicles, but is also an area where you store your outdoor equipments and other handyman or garden tools plus tendency for the area to be cluttered and filled with odds and ends. If you do not want your garage to be a dwelling place for rodents, spiders and other hideous insects you have to tidy up the place. What better way to organize your garage but to install specialty shelves and cabinets. First you should consider a few things when considering purchasing and installing garage shelves.
Opt For Sturdy Shelves
When choosing a garage shelf, choose those which can hold heavy tools and equipments. Always consider what you would be putting on those shelves and the purpose of installing them. Garage storage shelving options have a function for just about everything you can imagine from pulley systems for taking advantage of overhead space to workbenches for all your tools.
Choose Slim and Sleek Shelves
If you are planning a remodel and plan on attractive space consider that your garage is one of the largest rooms in your home. A typical two car garage is approximately 500 square feet. That means 23 feet deep by 22 feet wide or a total of 68 linear feet of wall area. Don’t overlook 500 square feet of ceiling area less the space when you raise the garage doors. The options available not only can handle heavy objects but are attractive. Well designed shelving and cabinets remove the clutter look. When your garage looks good you treat it like the interior of your home. In many homes the garage is the area where you most frequently enter and exit. When it looks good you’ll use it more and won’t mind leaving the garage doors open.
Be Practical
Having the right garage shelves doesn’t mean you would have to spend thousands of cash. Although you can buy ready-made garage shelves, you can build them on your own if you want to save money or if you just want your shelves to have a personal touch. You just have to choose the right materials. If you are going to make the shelves on your own, choose the right steel or wooden materials, the right nails and the right glue to come up with a strong and steady garage shelves. If you are creative enough, you do not even have to buy all the materials. Check your garage for materials which you can recycle or reuse, then paint them if you are done with your garage shelves to give them a fresh new look. Continue reading
